The Violent Nature of Islam

Many Americans regard Islam as a religion that is essentially peaceful, and see terrorists like Bin Laden and others as betraying the core of their religion. Even President George W. Bush and his administration have publicly stated such things. For example, in his 2006 state of the union address he refered to radical Islam as "the perversion by a few of a noble faith into an ideology of terror and death." (http://www.c-span.org/executive/stateoftheunion.asp) Such things may be true in regard to Christianity, the dominant religion in America. For example, despite things like the Crusades and the Inquisition, we find that the immediate followers of Jesus recorded him saying such things as "....resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Matthew 5:39). But, as it turns out, it is most definately NOT true of Islam. Witness the following quotes from the Koran, the revelation Muhammad received from Allah, which forms the foundation of Islamic religion.

There is also the Sunnah in addition to the Koran, which guides Muslims. According to the Muslim Student Association website at USC, where these quotes come from, "In Islam, the Arabic word sunnah has come to denote the way Prophet Muhammad (saas), the Messenger of Allah, lived his life. The Sunnah is the second source of Islamic jurisprudence, the first being the Qur'an. Both sources are indispensable; one cannot practice Islam without consulting both of them". A visit to their page on Sunnah and Hadith is most enlightening. Reading the Sunnah reveals the following:
Why does the Bush Administration and the American media continue to lie and say that Muslim terrorists are traitors to their religion? Why do they insist, after so many terrorists attacks on the US, Israel, and other countries by Muslim terrorits, that Islam is basically a peaceful religion? Are the media and our politicians deliberatly lieing to us? Or are they just ignorant of the facts? Neither option bodes well for western civilization.
